Being excused from classes will allow me to both learn how to manage my time well when it comes to creating a project, as well as give me more time to do research and field work regarding my idea.
This SYP would allow me to do research as how to make my very own cookbook, a subject which makes me giddy simply thinking about it. I would find the most economical foods on sale that week and strive to make the most interesting plates, which would also feed a substantial amount of people. This is especially practical for highschool and college students who want to live independently but need a way to manage their finances without subjecting themselves to Easy Mac. Cooking is also incredibly fun and interesting and make for more experiences when you go out to eat or share recipes, to see why people added a certain spice or route to a dish.
I strive to make 2 decent dishes a day I can produce a legitimate product of a cookbook with a series of recipes and pictures. This is harder than it seems though, since I would need to make sure my dishes are original and follow the line of my thesis (either being economical or time efficient).
I will publish a book at the end through one of the websites or our graphics department which I will either sell or share with people as my finished product!
Cooking has always been part of my life at home and something I love doing with my friends and family. My father and I make dinner each evening and constantly think of ways we can improve an otherwise simple dish, or bring it to the next level. Dedicating time to making my own recipes rather than just following something else made would allow me to be even more creative, keep track of my ideas, and share them with others.
My research question would be how to create a cookbook, which would require as to past chef's format and organization of a book which would be fun to use and practical, while being esthetically pleasing at the same time. The field work and the paper are independent from each other, in that I can create a thesis to my cookbook aside from the research I do in making the book itself.
Who / what to turn to for helpHaving family in Johnson and Whales makes it especially easy to get some professional help regarding my thesis and how my dishes look and taste. Both they and my father would be my source of guidance throughout this process.
